Comprehensive Plan
Bonner County is charged by Idaho Code, Section 67-6508, with the preparation, implementation, review and update of a "comprehensive plan" that considers previous and existing conditions, trends, desirable goals and objectives, or desirable future situations for 14 land use planning components. Bonner County's Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 1978, with a Property Rights component adopted in 2001. The County has been in the process of updating its nearly 25-year-old plan for the past six years. Components labeled as "draft" are now under consideration for adoption. These components, exclusive of the Implementation element, are "fact-building" documents, intended to establish the County's resources in each of the components. The goals, objectives and plan of action are to be addressed after all the fact-based components are adopted because the various components are interrelated. The task of considering the Plan's goals, objectives and implementation is forthcoming. In the meantime, the existing goals of the 1978 plan remain in place. Check the Planning Department agendas for public hearing schedules for each component. Comments may be submitted to the Planning Department by e-mail at the below address.
